How Pesa Radar collects, uses, and protects the information you share with us.
Pesa Radar ("we", "us", "our") builds tools that help people in Kenya and beyond understand and manage their money. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our mobile application and website, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
By using Pesa Radar, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please discontinue use of the app.
We collect the following categories of information:
Name, email address, and phone number when you create an account.
With your explicit permission, we read M-Pesa and bank SMS notifications on your device to detect and categorize transactions. Raw SMS content is processed on-device wherever possible.
Information about how you interact with the app, such as screens visited and features used, collected to improve the product.
Device model, operating system version, and app version, used for compatibility and troubleshooting.
We use privacy-conscious analytics to understand aggregate usage trends, such as which features are used most often. Analytics data is anonymized or pseudonymized wherever possible and is never used to sell advertising.
Pesa Radar is built on Google Firebase, which provides hosting, database, authentication, analytics, and crash reporting infrastructure. Firebase processes data on our behalf under Google's data processing terms. You can review Google's own privacy practices at policies.google.com/privacy.
We use Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in via email, phone number, or supported social providers. Passwords are never stored in plain text and are handled entirely by Firebase's secure authentication systems.
We use Firebase Crashlytics to automatically capture diagnostic information when the app crashes or encounters an error, helping us identify and fix bugs quickly. Crash reports may include device state at the time of the crash but exclude your financial transaction content.
We rely on a small number of trusted third-party providers to operate the app, including cloud hosting, push notifications, and AI processing services. Each provider is contractually bound to handle your data securely and only for the purposes we specify. We do not permit third parties to use your data for their own marketing purposes.
Our website uses only strictly necessary cookies required for basic functionality. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. The Pesa Radar mobile app does not use cookies.
Your data is stored on secure Google Cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest. Local data cached on your device for offline use is stored in an encrypted, sandboxed area accessible only to the Pesa Radar app.
We use industry-standard measures including TLS encryption in transit, encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work continuously to protect your information.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account within the app. This permanently removes your profile, transaction history, and insights from our systems within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records.
If you signed in using Facebook Login, you can request deletion of any data obtained via Facebook by removing Pesa Radar from your Facebook app settings, or by emailing privacy@pesaradar.app with the subject line "Facebook Data Deletion Request". We will process your request within 30 days and confirm once complete.
Pesa Radar is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it promptly.
Our infrastructure providers may process and store data in countries outside Kenya. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place consistent with applicable data protection law, including Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
